Nail Polish Of The Day

Sunday, June 28, 2015

Happy Sunday beauties!!!

Today's Sunday nail polish of the day features Butter London Lacquer in Crumpet! I have been a lover of all polishes from this brand for years.  This brand is free of chemicals that are traditionally found in a majority of nail polishes, and that is always a plus for me. When it comes to nail polish, I usually purchase for the color and longevity and not the brand. However, Butter London is one of those brands that I am always happy with all around. They come out with new colors and finishes and are always delivering high-quality ingredients. As I said, these polishes are free of formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP, toluene, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, and xylene. Pretty much, it does not contain harmful ingredients. Okay, so the polish that has taken the role of best neutral peach/caramel color is.... Crumpet. Love this color!!! Let me just tell you, it is so hard to find beautiful and chip free neutral peachy colors. The formula of this color is very opaque and one coat is enough, but I like to apply two for luck! Also, I have had this on for four days and no chips. Granted, I did apply Orly base coat and Seche Vite Dry Fast coat which helps with longevity.

Now, if any of you guys know of any peachy neutral polishes out there, please share in the comments. Also, what Butter London polish is your favorite? Because I think Crumpet might take the title as my fave!

Summer Face of the Day

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

Happy Wednesday Beauties!!!!

Today's post is all about that Jennifer Lopez Glow! Now, be honest! We all want to achieve that beautiful, healthy and seamless glow during the summer. Since it is summer, and I live in the south, I sometimes look for makeup with a matte finish. Therefore, I do not get that summer glow that I want. That is why I found a fantastic primer that gives me a matte base, which than allows me to apply a moisturizing and dewy finish foundation over it. The primer is the No 7 Beautifully Matte primer. Granted, I have neglected this primer for a very long time. One day, I was going through my collection and for some reason decided to use it and I am so glad that I did. This primer is a gem! For those high-temperature days, this primer really helps with the longevity of my makeup.  If you have dry skin, you might not like this primer. Or, what I would suggest is using the primer in areas where you get oily the most such as the forehead, chin, nose, and cheeks. Also, this is not a primer where you can glide onto the skin seamlessly... NOPE! What I do, is apply a dime-size onto my finger and work it between my fingers to warm it up. Then, I press it to my face. I found that using the product that way works the best for me.

BirchBox May Box

Saturday, June 13, 2015

Hello dotted bow readers! Happy Saturday!

I am a sucker for monthly subscription services and beauty. Therefore, birch box is perfect for beauty gals like us where we get to try deluxe sample beauty goodies every month. The box that I am sharing with you guys today is my May birch box, which I got in June. I know, a little confusing but depending on when you subscribed during the month that will reflect what box you end up getting. But if you continue the subscription you will get it in time every month. In my box, I got six products and I am very impressed with most of them.

1) Smashbox deluxe sample primer spray: When I saw this product in my box, I am not going to lie I squealed. I was and still am excited to have this product to try. First of all, it is a decent size to sample and comes with a spray. So far, I like it but I have not tried it enough to give a final verdict on whether it is worth the price tag. I will keep you posted.

2) Living Proof: I have never tried any of the Living Proof haircare products and oh my I, I think I fan now. Seriously though, the repair cream I got is a dream. The size is great, and I will get many uses from it. I will not wait to give you a verdict on this product because I give it a thumbs up. Totally worth it and the price for it!!

3) Well People Mascara:  I wish I had something good to say about this product, but I do not! I hate it! Now, right away I knew I would not like it because my lashes are stubborn. I only wear waterproof formula, and I am picky with my mascaras.  On my lower lashes, it is alright but will not purchase it.

4) Naobay Natural & Organic Oxygenating Cream: I have tried this cream because I am testing another product. But it does smell great, and the consistency seems hydrating and not greasy. So far, I see potential liking this product.

5) Notting Hill Perfume: Small sample size. Smells great!

Trilane Retinol+Vitamin C Review

Thursday, June 11, 2015

Happy Thursday dotted bow readers!

Todays post is a review on a skincare product that I was kindly sent to try. If your a regular reader, than you know that this product has my favorite two ingredients Retinol and vitamin C. Before I give you my thoughts on this product, I want to let you in on the benefits of Retinol and Vitamin C so that next time when your shopping, you will look for these ingredients. First, I consider these ingredients a key component in effectively enhancing my skin texture, brightening, and clearing black heads and acne.  Why do these ingredients effectively create results? Well, let us begin with Retinol. If you did not know, Retinol is just another name for Vitamin A (mind blown). Honestly, a year ago I did not know that. Vitamin A is an essential nutrient that is in many everyday foods such as squash, kale, leafy greens, carrots, sweet peppers, mango, sweet potato and melon. Internally consuming Vitamin A is necessary for the body to function healthily. However, Vitamin A is also beneficial applied to the surface of the skin and is in serums, moisturizers, toners, cleansers, and scrubs. As you can see, there are many ways to consume Vitamin A internally through foods and externally through skin care products.

Summer Running Tips

Wednesday, June 10, 2015

Hello Readers and happy almost summer!

Summer is officially in a week. Although for me, I think it is summer as soon as the weather becomes humid and unbearable to go outside for long hours without sweating bullets. The past year, I have come a long way with my fitness. Growing up, I have always been an active person, but I have never kept a consistent and strict routine that resulted in improvements in my physical and mental health, skin, stamina, and endurance. It has been a long and difficult journey to get to this point, but I am very happy with the lifestyle changes I have made. There are great sites on the web talking all about the benefits of running, and I agree with all of them. For me,  running has always been my favorite form of cardio. It is because I burn fat more, it helps clear my mind, it is for free and it is the quickest form of exercise because you are getting the whole body moving.
