New Makeup Picks

Saturday, February 27, 2016

I always get excited when I find new and amazing makeup finds. This winter I have been really into simple and glowy makeup looks. Honestly, I think because my skin is in a really good place I find that I can get away with less makeup. I used to prefer heavy makeup, not that that I want to but that I felt like I had to conceal every single one of my acne scars. Now, I do not mind imperfections peeking through my foundation.  The two base products that I am head over heals for are the It Cosmetics CC cream with SPF 50 and the Loreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation. The It cosmetics CC cream is one of a kind. This product is an amazing everyday no fuss base. It provides good coverage, long lasting wear, healthy glow and is lightweight. Never been a fan of cc creams or bb creams, but now I might just have to test more out. Next on my shopping list is the Bare Minerals Tinted moisturizer. The second base product rave is more for those full coverage "I need my makeup to last for 10 hours" days. The loreal Infallible foundation is the best drugstore foundation that I have tried. It is blendable,  medium to full coverage, lightweight, long-wearing, semi-matt finish, and does not oxidize. I love this foundation because the color range is a yellow undertone, which suits my complexion very well. I highly recommend this foundation, it gets the holy grail status. Next up, concealers. Two concealers that are worth picking up is the NYX HD concealer and the Maybelline Fit me concealer. Both concealers are pigmented, blendable, affordable and long wearing. I use the NYX under the eye and the Maybelline to spot conceal. This brings us to the last makeup rave, lips. The colder months calls for lip balm, lip balm, and more lip balm. My lips get dry and uncomfortable during the winter months. Therefore, I try to avoid matte lipsticks unless it is worn for the special occasions. One lipstick that has made it into my everyday handbag is the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Kate moss lipstick in 014 nude. This lipstick is creamy, hydrating and perfect everyday no fuss lip color. It is the perfect work lipstick because it is flattering and gives off a sophisticated finish to any makeup look.

There you have it, my new makeup picks. Now, it is your turn to share your new makeup picks in the comments below.

The Makeup Palette that is Worth the Hype

Friday, February 26, 2016

There is no denying that I am a beauty junkie. When I hear beauty gurus rave about a product or just my friend talking about her newest beauty find, I tend to jump on the bandwagon.  However, for the past two years, I have been more mellow. I have restricted myself to impulse beauty buying and really have enjoyed using the products I already own. Because let's be honest, in my lifetime, I won't ever be able to get through my makeup stash. I have too much!   I am a collector and I am happy to be taking the back seat. I do treat myself once in a blue moon if there is beauty product that is unique and I do not have already  in my stash. This brings us to one my newest fave purchase, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette.

During the Holidays, I used my Sephora $15 off $50 on the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette purchase. I never thought I would purchase this palette. I just thought I would not get much use out of it, it is expensive, and kind of overhyped.  After reading hundreds of reviews, I was convinced to test out. The palette retails for $62 for three powders: Dim Light, Incandescent Light(only found in this palette), and Radiant light.  It took a couple of uses until I figured how to use each powder.

- Dim light is beautiful finely milled all over powder. It gives your skin a glow and not powdery look. I am obsessed with this powder.
Radiant light powder is a peachy/light bronzey shimmer. I used this as a blush and it instantly gives your cheeks a glowy healthy look.
- Incandescent light is a silver shimmery highlighter that I apply to the tops of my cheekbones.

These powders are versatile and can be used for so many things. If you asked me for one thing that you should have in your makeup stash that is worth the hype? I would point you in the direction of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. I use the powders every day. They are buttery, finely milled and a gives a beautiful glow to the skin. WORTH THE HYPE!

Have you tried any of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders

Skincare | Exuviance Skinrise Bionic Tonic Review

Thursday, February 25, 2016
I have always been a fan of skincare products. However, the older I get the more I appreciate and enjoy a good skincare routine. I love to take that time in the morning and evening to apply quality ingredients, give myself a face massage and really nourish my skin. I have been through ups and downs with my skin. It was a cycle: clear skin, acne, clear skin, acne. Now, I can truly say that my skin is in a really good place. Of course, I do get hormonal acne during that time of the month and when I am stressed, I get acne. But what has helped maintain and address my skin concerns, is a good skin care routine. My skin type has always been oily/acne prone. This past year, my skin has been less oily and more combo to dry. I do think that the cold weather has played a huge role in my drier skin. To address my dry skin,  I have been using a product by Exuviance called Skinrise Bionic Tonic. I had to the opportunity to try it out. This product is premoistened pads that are formulated with antioxidant vitamins, Cucumber, Eucalyptus, Green tea, Grapefruit, and Peppermint. The ingredients help to refine and smooth the skin giving it a clear and radiant complexion. The green tea extract helps to tone and protect stressed skin from free radicals.

My experience:
I use this product every morning after I cleanse, I apply one pad all over my face and my neck. I then gently massage the remaining surface fluid. Immediately my skin looks radiant and fresh, but ultimately I feel awake. The ingredients and scent of the pads are rejuvenating. If I did not sleep well the night before, I will use this morning and my skin feels and looks amazing. I have never used a product as effective and worth the price as this Skinrise Bionic Tonic. Especially during the colder months, the pads have been a life saver at hydrating my skin. The best part is that it does not leave a sticky or oily feel.

This product has become a must have in my daily regimen. So far, I have used this for over a month and the results are tremendous. It brightens, smooths, and tones my skin. I am really impressed with this brand and product. The Skinrise Bionic Tonic is the second skin care product that I have tried from Exuviance. I did a review on the Non- Acid Peel treatment from Exuviance and I was very impressed with that product as well.

This product retails for $45 for 36 single pads. You can purchase it online at Exuviance.com or at Ulta. I highly recommend picking this product up, it is worth it because it contains effective ingredients and the results are fantastic.

Derma E Firming DMAE Eye Lift Review

Tuesday, February 9, 2016

For the past year, I have been really spending more time on my skincare routine. I am a big believer that when you take care of your skin, any makeup you apply will look ten times better. I can totally vouch on that since makeup looks so much better now that my skin is clearer and in a better condition than it used to. So today's post is a review on an eye cream that I had the opportunity to test out by Derma E. When It comes to eye creams, I want it to do two things

1. Depuff
2. Hydrate

Derma E Brand Story:

Imagine a time, not long ago...when people didn’t consider how their internal health affected their outward appearance. And, nobody understood that what you put on your skin matters too. The phrases “superfood”, “holistic health” and “sustainable” were rarely or never used. Nobody was concerned about their skincare being eco-friendly and nobody was eating kale.

Then derma e® got started.

Derma E is a skincare line that now can be found at Target and many other retail stores. Their products are free of parabens, phthalates, mineral oil and petrolatum. Every formula is cruelty-free, gluten-free and 100 percent vegan. The product that I tested was their new Firming DMAE Eye Lift which can be purchased at Target. The brand claims that this eye cream will visibly lift, firm and tighten the delicate eye area while smoothing crow’s feet. This product contains natural ingredients and DMAE is a skin- firming nutrient which will boost collagen for firmer skin.

My thoughts:

I have been using the Derma E Firming DMAE Eye Lift for over three weeks morning and night. After I cleanse my face I apply half a pea size onto my ring finger and gently dab around my eye area and brow bone. The consistency is a cream and absorbs nicely without leaving a greasy residue. Since I am in my early 20's, eye cream is a product that I usually do not see immediate results. Which is why after three weeks using this eye cream, I did not notice a dramatic change around my eye  area. However, I did notice that my under eyes are much more hydrated and firmer. What I really like about this eye cream is that it does not irritate my skin. Also, this product contains Hyaluronic Acid which plumps and gives extra hydration. So if you suffer from dry under eyes or fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, I highly recommend checking this eye cream out. It is effective and a great every day morning and night cream. Overall, I am very pleased with this eye cream and will continue to use it. You can purchase this product at Target for $21.99. For the price, I am beyond happy with the results for far.

Check out Derma E website, here, for more information about the brand and their products. Also, it is a new year, so why don't you try something new! So excited about Derma E at Target, so what are you waiting for go try something new this year and pick up the Firming DMAE Eye Lift.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Review

Sunday, February 7, 2016

I am really excited about today's skincare review. I am a skincare junkie and have been testing out a lot of new skincare products. The number one skincare advice everyone gives is to make sure you remove your makeup before you got to sleep. Of course, we all had those nights where we were too tired and fell asleep with our makeup. I am totally guilty of that, but 98% of my nights my makeup is coming off. I do wear makeup on a daily basis and I also use waterproof mascara. When it comes to makeup removers, I am a very picky. I do not like makeup remover wipes and many of the makeup removers I have tried does not work at removing my waterproof mascara. The last two years, I have tried some fantastic makeup removers. Here is my top three that I have used consistently.

Top 3 Makeup removers:

1. Radha Beauty Coconut Oil: AMAZING, Odorless, Moisturizing, Affordable makeup remover. This product should be in every girl's skincare cabinet. I have gone through two bottles and will be purchasing my third one.

2. LUMENE Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover: This is hands down the best skincare product I have used. I went through over 9 bottles. Removes my stubborn mascara, does not irritate, and conditions my lashes. I use the Loreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara and nothing can remove it really well as the Lumene makeup remover. It is under $10 and can be found at the drugstore and highly recommend this product.

3.  Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Cleanser: This is a fairly new discovery. I have used this cleanser for about 4 months. This cleanser removes makeup really well without stripping away your natural oils. The best part is that it does not irritate my eyes.

As you can tell, I have been committed to the Lumeme and Radha Beauty for years and still love them. They are holy grail status. Just to give you an idea, I have tried makeup removers from brands like Lancome, Estee lauder, and Chanel and I can say they were not great. They could not get the job done and for me, that is an ineffective makeup remover.

The past couple of years I have heard a lot about micellar waters, but never took the plunge and tried one until recently. I was at target few weeks ago, no surprise and I decided to pick up the NEW Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. There are two versions: the pink cap is regular and the blue cap is the Waterproof version. This product retails for under $10 at the drugstore and you get 400ml. You get a lot of product for the price.

The Garnier Micellar Water claims to be an All-in-1 Makeup Remover & Cleanser that
- removes makeup and waterproof mascara
- cleanses
- refreshes
This product can be used for face, lips, eyes and contains no oil, alcohol, or fragrance and it makes safe for all skin types.

My thoughts:
I shake the bottle and saturate two cotton rounds and apply it to my eyelids and wipe away my eye makeup. This product does not irritate my eyes and does not feel greasy and the best part is that it actually removes waterproof mascara. I am going to be honest, I did not think It would and it proved me wrong. This micellar water is AMAZING. It removes makeup really well. I have never been this excited and impressed by a makeup remover in a really long time and that is why I am doing this review because I think everyone needs to pick this up and give it a try.
